Junk we will be doing:  Ready?  Here we go…
--4 Novels
we will be reading and discussing and doing projects over the following novels:
*The Princess Bride
*Oliver Twist
*To Kill A Mockingbird
*The Hobbit
You will also be keeping a spiral journal over each novel which will include a summary over what you read each week, 2 quotes that were meaningful to you from the week's reading, and why you chose the quotes.  The journal will also be used to do any novel writing projects.

--Writing Skills
You will learn to write and practice the following types of papers:
*writing prompts
*research paper
*comparison/contrast papers
*5 paragraph papers
*persuasive papers
*summary/response papers
*reaction papers
--Greek/Latin Roots
You will learn the definitions of 5 Greek/Latin roots each week and take a test over them the last Language Class each week.  You will not only need to learn the current week's roots, but also remember all previous weeks’ words
--Vocabulary Words
You will learn the spelling and definitions of 2 words each week and take a test over them the last Language Class each week.  You will not only need to learn the current week's spelling and definitions, but also remember all previous weeks’ words
--Literature Book
You will read, discuss, and answer questions over stories and poems in the Literature Book
--Novel Notecards
You will use the Novel Notecard book to write 2 notecards each week.  You will then be tested over the current notecards as well as all previous notecards on the same day you take your vocabulary/Latin/Greek tests.  Look at the Novel Notecard Link to discover how to do the notecards each week.
--Speech
Yes, that word that brings fear into the hearts of all.  Did you know that most people would rather have a root canal than do a speech?  Hopefully, at the end of the section, you will find that it is not all that bad.
Here is what we will be doing in speech:
--informative
--how to
--drama
--persuasive
--oral interpretation
--children’s book reading
--poetry reading
