Welcome to Moviemaking 101. The place where the imagination runs wild and all of you become stars on the "silver screen".
Here's the project: You are to create a 10-20 minute video with your assigned group (see below) Do not change people's in your group, your group is stuck with you. You will need to follow the rules in order to come out of this thing with an "A". I know some of you hate groups, but I will do my best to determine who the lazy ones are that don't help and who the leaders are who push things along. Grades will be lowered based on bossyness and lazyness. Lazy, for obvious reasons and "bossy" because they won't allow anyone to give an opinion and will take over. So, the key word is "moderation" Can you say "moderation"? That means all of you work together equally to make this a success.
So, what do I want? Here goes:
Monday and Tuesday--get into groups and develop the movie "skeleton"--sounds disgusting doesn't it?
Skeleton should include:

--genre (you will be assigned this)

--characters (you will be assigned what characters will be in the movie (i.e. hero,
mentor, shadow, trickster, etc) You are expected to have other characters
but the ones assigned should be the lead parts. You are to give names to
the characters and write a brief description both physically and emotionally of these characters. Remember, if you tell me that one of the guy characters is really handsome and is a massive weight-lifter, then you had better have someone in your group that will fit that description since you will be the actors.

--Acts I, II, III: I want you to write "Act I", then tell me what you plan on happening

in this act. Then "Act II", and tell me what will happen, etc.

--challenge: Tell me the challenge the hero will overcome, or be overcome by.

Therefore, is the movie a comedy or a tragedy?

--setting: will be CIA. You have no other options. You can pretend that CIA is a
prison, school, airport, etc. but you will be doing the filming at the school. So,
tell me the setting you will design at CIA including time of year, day, place, etc.
Wednesday and Thursday and Friday--start writing your script. You will be allowed to ad lib somewhat, but if it is obvious that you are just rambling and saying stuff that doesn't make sense, you will take a big hit on your grade. Make sure you put time and effort into this thing.
If you get done with your script and all of the above early, you can start your movie making this week.
Things to include in your film:
--title page: name of movie, director, producer, starring, etc., etc.
Have fun with this--that's what it is meant to be. Also, make sure you turn in a well put together paper on the stuff you did for Monday and Tuesday. Make sure it is typed.
As far as video is concerned, feel free to use a video camera or your digital camera.
Finally, we will watch these when I get back so I can grade them.
Grading:
Your grade will be determined by:
--a plot includes: Act 1--developing characters, setting, etc.
Act 2--a challenge the hero must overcome or overcome by it, Act 3--denouement.
--all of you equally involved in planning, filming, directing of movie
--using the characters you were assigned
--a well-written script
--sticking with your genre and its characteristics
